(Coaching)
Coaching
is the development of the dancer beyond technique and performance proficiency
to artistry. Mariano
is available to coach the professional or semi-professional dancer in
their repertoire, to prepare the repertoire for stage with emphasis on
evaluation of the choreography, musicality and phrasing. Mariano coaches
in Spanish Dance and Flamenco Moro.
"Always a Spanish
dancer by profession, I have spent over 50 years as a student of dance.
I am thankful to have had the opportunity to study with and personally
know many of the greatest dancers of our time. I feel the responsibility
to pass on the gifts of knowledge I've been given."
Mariano Parra, Dancer/Choreographer/Teacher
Comments:
"If you have been dancing for years, learning steps, compas
and choreographies here and there...but..still wonder why you don't look...good...it's
...because you haven't taken classes with Mariano, a real MAESTRO. Mariano
Parra, not only has a microscopic eye, (he won't miss one shakey sound
of your feet EVER) he has the key to open one's body and heart as a dancer
to transform into a moving stylistic sculpture. With Mariano you will
paint your own personal designs of the air and space with perfect technique.
With the MAESTRO, what counts is pure quality, the balance of the body
visuals on stage with total control and confidence to bring out the best
dancer you can be. If you have the patience to accept targeted corrections...your
dancing will improve tremendously. But of course you have to work hard
too. Don't miss this marvelous experience."
Silvia Siller
"Mariano Parra is the consummate teacher for dancers of all disciplines.
His classes are informative, thought provoking, and inspiring, and what
he has to say goes deep, reflecting a lifetime of dedication to dance
with a global perspective."
Tamalyn Dallal, Director, The Middle Eastern Dance
Exchange
Performing Company and School, Miami Beach, Florida
"Master Parra has
been an honest and true teacher to me and I quote him at least once every
workshop I teach anywhere in the world...his self respect and artful approach
is contagious.
He has influenced my career and I am forever grateful to be his student."
Nourhan Sharif, Egyptian Academy of Oriental Dance
"Mariano
duende. Mariano brujo. While
you may think you are simply in a dance class, Mariano works to connect
your eyes to your spine, your spine to your hips, your hips to your heels,
your heels to your hands, your hands directly to your heart. It is then
your heart and mind begin to overflow through your eyes and you are finally
learning to dance. That's how Mariano creates these marvelous "dancing
beasts" who go to the stage to collect their applause. Nobody escapes
Mariano's magic spell".
Lila Zellet Elias, Romani singer and dancer. México.
"Mariano Parra...embedded
deep within this Spanish treasure is the solid gold of many
generations of dance masters."
Mary Jo Fenio, Profile Biographer/Dance Educator
